| Iran: US arms deal fruitless Tue, 31 Jul 2007 20:16:25 | |
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the US aims to save the country's arms industries from bankruptcy. The White House officials, some of whom are the stockholders of big arms companies, are seeking to create a negative political climate in the Middle East so that they can make huge profits, he added. Mottaki said that such policies will not undermine the ties between the regional nations reiterating that the Middle East problems solely stem from the US support of Israel's warmongering. Mottaki said the US support of the Zionist Regime in last year's Israeli aggression of Lebanon is a clear evidence of Washington's inappropriate policies in the region. The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced on Monday, before starting her Middle East tour, that the US is providing an arms package for Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to counter what she called Iran's influence in the region.
